Somali Cabinet Deliberates on Constitutional Review Progress

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali Cabinet, Saturday convened to evaluate the progress of the country’s constitutional review process.

The discussions focused on Articles 5 and 9 of the constitution marking a pivotal step in the Federal Government’s commitment to holding a universal suffrage election—“One Person, One Vote”—to strengthen democracy and promote inclusivity.

Deputy Prime Minister Salah Jama who chaired the cabinet meeting emphasized the importance of broad-based consultations in ensuring the constitutional review aligns with Somalia’s democratic aspirations and the needs of its diverse population.

The cabinet reiterated its commitment to concluding the process promptly to facilitate political stability and progress towards realization of the universal suffrage.
