Somali Federal MP Hosh Jibril: Upper-house is the Beginning of Good Governance
Somali Federal MP Hosh Jibril has praised the bicameral legislature idea in the country, saying it will contribute to more of exclusivity, political stability, and economic development.
The MP, speaking today to Goobjoog News played down the skepticism of the upperhouse, which many say it will lead the country to more of political chaos.
“Listen, the Idea of Upper-house is not over night decision. Somalia decided to have Upperhouse after years of deliberations and it’s mandatory as according to the constitution to have Upper house in the country by this year” said Hosh.
Hosh added that the role of Upper-house is not only to represent regional states to Federal Government but also to hold government accountable alongside of the Lower-house.
“The role of Upper of House is not limited to the representation of regional states, but also they are equally responsible to hold government accountable, to contribute the growth of economics in the country, and to help communities and regional states how federalism works” said Hosh
Hosh was one of several Federal MPS who was commissioned drafting currents Somali provisional constitution.
