Somali Forces Kill 21 Al-Shabaab Militants in Coordinated Airstrike

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MIDDLE SHABELLE: Twenty-one Al-Shabaab militants were killed Friday in a coordinated airstrike in the Middle Shabelle region, the national intelligence agency, NISA, has said.

In a statement Saturday, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) said the militants were killed in a joint operation with the Somali National Army in the Eelgub area of the Middle Shabelle region.

The agency noted that several Al-Shabaab leaders were killed in the airstrike. NISA also called on civilians to avoid areas where Al-Shabaab militants are active, emphasizing the intensification of military operations aimed at neutralizing threats posed by the group across the country.

The strike comes amid heightened military operations in the Middle Shabelle region targeting Al-Shabaab. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud spent a couple of days in the region last week before returning to Mogadishu.
