Somali Forces Kill Over 70 Militants in Coordinated Operations

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali security forces have intensified their offensive against militant groups, conducting a series of targeted operations across Lower and Middle Shabelle regions, resulting in the deaths of over 70 militants and significant seizures of weapons and equipment.

Late last night, a coordinated operation in the Cabdulle-Barbaar area, near Ciid-Ciid in Mahadaay district, led to the elimination of seven militants. The operation also yielded six rifles, a Fekon motorcycle, and other military supplies.

This operation is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant hideouts and prevent their movements in the region.

In another operation, Somali forces carried out simultaneous air and ground operations in Lower and Middle Shabelle. The operations near the towns of Sabiid and Caanoole, in Lower Shabelle, resulted in the deaths of over 30 militants.

Additionally, airstrikes near Raage Ceelle in Middle Shabelle eliminated more than 40 militants, with one of their military vehicles destroyed.

Sheikh Abuukar Mohamed, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, confirmed that the operations are a part of a broader strategy to weaken militant networks and enhance national security.

“These operations are crucial in dismantling terrorist strongholds and preventing further destabilization in Somalia,” he said.

The Somali National Army, in collaboration with international partners, remains committed to intensifying efforts to secure the country and restore peace to conflict-affected areas.
