Somali forces recapture Ba’adweyn in Mudug region
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUDUG: A joint offensive by Somali National Army and the darawish paramilitary unit in Galmudug have retaken Ba’adweyn town in Mudug region from the militant group Al-Shabaab.
Galmudug state security minister Ahmed Fiqi said in a Facebook post troops from the SNA 21st division jointly with the state darawish forces regained control of the town which had been recaptured by Al-Shabaab in April.
The security minister added that government forces also wrested control of Qaycad and Sabeeno Gawrah villages in the region.
Officials said there was fighting between the two sides before al-Shabaab militants fled the area.
