Somali Foreign Minister Meets with WFP Somali Country Director
Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalan Hadliye Omar has warly received Laurent Bukera, Somalia Country Director for the World Food Programme (WFP) at his office in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The two discussed wide range issues including resettlement for repatriates and food security situations in Somali IDPs comps.
Mr. Abdisalan underlined that Somalia which approaches to the Jilal, the harshest dry season of the year, needs to get humanitarian aid as prevention because if there is a small drought, resilience collapses and the situation becomes desperate.
Laurent Bukera for his side, pledged that FAO will promote risk management, early warning systems and prevention (of food emergencies).
This comes a day after FAO has launched an emergency appeal for $697 million to help 30 million people in 31 crisis-hit countries including Somalia on Tuesday.
