Flooding to continue as heavy rains persist, govt says
The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has warned of continued flooding as heavy rains are expected in southern parts of the country in the next two days.
A press release from the Ministry stated that heavy rains above 40mm are expected in the coming days in some parts of the country.
The rainfall forecast for the next two days is likely to be heavy, and forecasts indicate that it rains in the Ethiopian highlands and other regions of Somalia.
“Flood risks to continue in the south and west districts of the country. Heavy rainfall expected in the next two days in parts of the country,” the ministry said.
The government further warned people in affected areas not to return to their homes yet since there is likely to be more flooding. The floods have so far displaced about 200,000 people.
