Somali national killed in South Africa

GOOBJOOG NEWS|CAPE TOWN: Another Somali citizen has been killed in South Africa, in the wake of killings against Somali nationals.

Ali Mohamed Hassan, popularly known as (Balakii), was shot dead in his car in Nyanga, Cape Town, by unknown assailants who immediately fled the scene.

A Somali resident who arrived at the scene after the shooting said nothing was stolen from the late Balakii, raising questions as to why he was killed.

The killing of Hassan comes barely a week after two other Somali nationals were killed and three others injured in the coastal town of Strand, bringing the number of Somalis gunned down to seven in a fortnight.

Killings of Somalis have been on the rise in South Africa in recent days, with attacks on shops owned by foreigners largely associated with extortion.
