Somali president appoints Interim national security adviser

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has appointed interim Staff for Somali presidential palace hours after taking over the power from his predecessor Hassan Sheikh Mohamed on Thursday.

In a statement, Farmaajo appointed Hussein Moallim Mohamud as national security adviser for the new president.

“I would like to announce few appointments that will serve as my interim team during the transitional period,” said Farmajo said in the statement.

Mohamud who is a senior National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) had worked with immediate former president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Farmaajo also announced the appointment of Siyad Mohamed Shire and Ali Said Fiqi as Somali ambassador to EU and Chiefs of protocol of presidency respectively.

Somalia’s Immediate former president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud exited Villa Somalia where he has lived in for the last four years on Thursday.
