Somalia Information Minister Attends Putin Reception for Global Culture Forum Delegates

GOOBJOOG NEWS | ST. PETERSBURG: Somalia’s Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Abdirahman Qasim Mahmoud, attended a reception hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin for senior officials and delegates participating in the 12th International Forum of United Nations Cultures.

The reception brought together representatives attending the international cultural forum, with Putin using the event to underline the role of culture in maintaining dialogue and strengthening ties between peoples.

In his remarks, the Russian president said cultural engagement can help sustain dialogue even when political and economic relations face difficulties.

He also highlighted the importance of protecting cultural diversity, involving young people and promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience.

Minister Mahmoud thanked President Putin and the Russian government for hosting the forum and for their support for the promotion of culture and the arts.

The Somali minister said Somalia’s participation provides an opportunity to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage, exchange experiences with other countries and explore cooperation benefiting Somali cultural institutions, artists and creative professionals.

The reception marks a high-level international engagement for Somalia’s culture portfolio as the country seeks greater opportunities to promote its heritage and creative sector on the global stage.
