Somalia international partners welcome the ongoing dialogue in Galmudug
In a joint press statement issued by UNSOM has shown that the international partners of Somalia have welcomed the ongoing dialogues in Galmudug state of central Somalia.
Belgium, Denmark, Ethiopia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the European Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the United Nations, as major international partners of Somalia, commend the ongoing dialogue in Galmudug to unify the state, promote stability, and bring parties together for the benefit of its people and the whole of Somalia.
“We encourage all stakeholders to continue these endeavours and to take forward broad-based and inclusive reconciliation, leading to the transparent and fair selection of a new Parliament and President, free from violence,” reads the statement.
“We reaffirm our support for Somalia,” adds the statement
For the last months, there were political difficulties in Galmudug which could be resolved if the proper dialogue is held among the various political stakeholders.
The Somali Prime Minister, Hassan Ali Kheyre, was in the region for over a week and is still working to create an environment for elections that would satisfy all parties involved.
