Somalia, Saudi Arabia Seek Stronger Trade Ties, Cooperation on Red Sea Security

GOOBJOOG NEWS|RIYADH: Somalia and Saudi Arabia are seeking to expand trade and investment ties while strengthening cooperation on Red Sea security, officials said following talks in Mogadishu.

Somalia’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar, met Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed Mohamed Al-Mould, at the Foreign Ministry headquarters, where the two sides discussed areas for deeper bilateral cooperation.

Trade and investment featured prominently in the talks, with the officials discussing opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation and encourage new investment between the two countries.

The meeting also addressed security in the Red Sea, a strategically important maritime corridor for regional and international trade.

Somalia and Saudi Arabia share interests in the stability of the Red Sea and the wider region, particularly amid security challenges affecting maritime routes and commercial shipping.
