Somaliland government announces $2m aid relief amid biting drought

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: Somaliland government has announced a $ 2 million emergency response relief for thousands affected by the ongoing drought.

The Somaliland Drought Rescue Committee the funds would support relief efforts to save lives as the biting drought inflicts losses of lives and livelihoods. 

The National Drought Rescue Committee also stated that many individuals, both adults and children, were hospitalized in various hospitals for treatment for malnutrition.

According to the UN, close to one million people in the whole of Somalia have been displaced by the droughts while half of the population is facing starvation.
