Somaliland MPs to elect new speaker today

GOOBJOOG NEWS|HARGEISA: Members of Parliament in Somaliland will today elect a new speaker following the resignation of the immediate former speaker in June.
The parliamentarians will be electing a new speaker from three candidates who have expressed their interest to lead the House. Immediate former speaker Abdirisaaq Khalif Ahmed resigned his post on June 11 and also announced exit from politics.
Those contesting the seats are Yasin Haji Mohamud Hir Faratoon from the ruling Kulmiye party and Ali Hamud Jibril backed by the opposition UCID party.
