South West elects 7 MPs in Barawe today
GOOBJOOG NEWS/BARAWE: The electoral delegates of South West state have today elected 7 members of parliament in the state’s second constituency, Barawe.
Mohamud Ahmed Mohamed won the HOP#045 seat with 90 votes trouncing his rival, Yusuf Mohamed Abdullahi, who received 8 votes and lost three votes. HOP#045 seat was previously held by Somali Government Minister of Petroleum Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed.
Mohamud Abdalla Ahmed emerged winner of the HOP145 seat previously held by the First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abduweli Ibrahim Mudey. Mohamed received 76 votes while his rival, Abdullahi Ahmed Abdi, received 12 votes and lost two.
Mohamed Osman Omar won the HOP#162 seat previously held by Ali Sheikh Abdullahi after he received 74 votes, while his rival, Mohamed Talib Hassan received 17 votes.
Calwiya Siid Abdullahi clinched the HOP#148 seat previously held by Amina Hassan Ali. Calwiya received 88 votes, while her rival, Sadiyo Mohamed Abdulkadir, received 10 votes.
Suhur Haji Ulusow won the HOP#256 seat previously held by Nadifo Adan Isaq. Suhur received 87 votes while his rival, Jiijo Ahmed Ikow received 12 votes.
Ali Sheikh Mohamed Nur retained his seat, HOP#143 seat in the House of the People, receiving 90 votes while his rival Abdulkadir Mohamed Abdullahi received 11 votes.
Isaq Mohamed Mohamud also retained his seat, HOP#163, receiving 86 votes while his rival, Abdullahi Osman Ibrahim, received 10 votes.
Barawe is set to conclude elections for the remaining six seats in the city of Barawe tomorrow.
