South West poll team elects chair in build up to August elections
GOOBJOOG NEWS/BAIDOA: South West state interim elections committee has appointed a chairman to lead the the poll team ahead of August elections.
Yusuf Abdikadir Mohamed who garnered 10 votes out of possible 11 beat his only contender Mohamed Abdullahi Isaq to become chairman of the committee. Iraq got only one vote.
The elections in South West state come a day after Mohamed Irro was elected chairman of the Federal Indirect Elections Team (FIET) on Sunday.
The composition of the electoral team paves way for preparations for the elections. According to a schedule released by the National Consultative Council this past week, elections of the 275 member Lower House will run from August 10 to September 10.
The selection of the 27,775 delegates who will elect the MPs starts from July 15 to August 10.
Other Federal Member States are expected to conclude the composition of their respective electoral teams this week.
