South West state president Sharif Hassan Adan survives twin attack enroute to Mogadishu
South West State President Sharif Hassan Adan has survived a twin assassination attack after his convoy was ambushed in Lafoole area on his way to Mogadishu, Lower Shabelle Spokesman has said.
Confirming the incident to Goobjoog News, Abdirahman Shino who was travelling with the president said the convoy came under attack two times with one explosive device hitting a passenger vehicle.
“The attackers attacked our convoy two times within a short distance of each but none hit our convoy. A passenger vehicle full of civilians was hit but I cannot confirm the casualties now,” said Shino.
Goobjoog News correspondent in Afgooye said AMISOM troops in the area fired back at the attackers but there was no clear information of any casualties.
President Adan was travelling from Lower Shabelle where he had gone to inaugurate a new governor. Abdirahman Siddi was replaced by Ibrahim Adan Ali.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud traveled in a helicopter to Afgooye in September on a meet the people tour.
