South-West state to elect first five Senators today

GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAIDOA: South West state parliament will elect its first five senators today becoming the second state to get new leaders who will represent the state in the federal parliament.
The ten candidates who will be vying for the five seats will address the state parliament this morning ahead of the vote later in the day. South West will become the second state to conduct the exercise after Jubbaland which elected four senators last week.

One seat will be contested by women only as part of the 30% quota rule.
The following candidates will be contesting for the five seats:
