Southwest polls body announces schedule for re-election of HOP154
GOOBJOOG NEWS/BAIDOA: The South West Election Implementation Committee has announced the schedule for the re-election of HOP154 seat, which was previously won by MP Saredo Mohamed Abdalla, but was invalidated by the Federal electoral body.
The team said that registration of candidates and receipt of application fee will be on April 20, 2022, while re-election of the HOP154 seat will take place on Friday, April 21.
The South West State Electoral Implementation Committee (SEIT) has today already awarded candidacy certificates to MP Saredo and Nastexo Mohamed Yusuf for the Hop154 seat.
The re-election of HOP154 comes amid a determination made by FEIT) that Sareda’s only contestant, Fardowsa Ibrahim Abdalla was underage, an act that contravened the requirements of Article 3 of the October 1, 2020 election agreement.
MP Saredo, who has held the seat for the past 22 years, is said to have hand-picked Fardowsa (her cousin) to pose as her opponent despite being a juvenile, in a move that swept her to victory.
