Special operation nabs 10 Al-Shabaab terrorists in Mogadishu
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A statement by the Ministry of Information has said that Somali National Security forces, particularly the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), carried out a special operation last night in Mogadishu and nabbed ten Al-Shabaab terrorists.
A tip-off from members of the public and agents allied to the forces resulted in the swift operation, which also seized three residential houses that the group was secretly operating in and recovered weapons from the houses.
“The special forces successfully destroyed the Alshabab network in the area that was planning terrorist acts to undermine the security of the capital and harm the public,” read part of the statement.
The Ministry of Information also said the arrested terrorists include a group of hitmen who were prepared to target the innocent people of Mogadishu, doctors who were prepared to treat the terrorists and others who facilitated accommodation and transportation for the terrorists.
The Somali government has thanked the members of the public for sharing the vital information that led to the successful operation, promising to alienate the group . It also called on the youth who have been lured into the group to give up their ways before the government catches up on them.
