GOOBJOOG NEWS|LAS’ANOD: The administration of SSC-Khatumo has announced the suspension of relations with Somaliland and restrictions of Somaliland-based organisations against operating in the contested region.

The 33-member Consultative Committee of the SSC-Khatumo announced on Saturday that all communication with Somaliland has been ceased. “All organizations operating in Somaliland have been stopped from coming to SSC-Khatumo areas and doing any work there,” the Committee said in a media conference.

They announced further that all commercial activities between Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo have been stopped forthwith. All transit from Somaliland to southern Somalia via SSC regions has also been banned, the committee said.

The Committee however announced a six days window period to resolve differences with Somaliland.

The declaration comes amid on-and-off fighting between Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo militia. SSC stands fro Sool, Sanaag and Cayn regions which are opposed to Somaliland rule. They unsuccessfully in the past attempted to form the Khatumo state.
