Lower Shabelle elders boycott reconciliation conference due to be held in Baidoa

Traditional elders and intellectuals who hail from Lower Shabelle region declined to attened general reconciliation and consultation conference called earlier by the newly established regional state of South West Somalia.

The elders who met in the region confirmed that they will not take part in the reconciliation conference.

The spokesman of the elders Abdi Ali Abuukar giving exclusive interview to Goobjoog FM said the elders agreed not to get associated nor take part in the said reconciliation conference.

The elders have not yet substantiated the reason behind their decline but sources in the region confirm that the elders express complains that they were not adequately represented in the newly appointed cabinet ministers of the regional state.

The president of South West Somalia Sharif Sheikh Adan stated that his administration is ready to end the differences between the people in the region through reconciliation conference.
