Turkey Donates $50,000 for ElNino Floods Victims

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Turkish Embassy in Somalia has donated $50,000 to help the victims of the recent floods caused by the El Nino rains.

Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) chairman Mohamud Macalin while receiving the donation in Mogadishu thanked the Turkish government for its continued support for Somalia.

Mr. Mohamud said the donation will be used to provide essential services to the victims such as providing food, water, shelter and medical assistance.

Turkish Ambassador to Somalia Armağan Ardoğa stated that Turkey will continue supporting the Somali people to overcome challenges posed by natural disasters, insecurity and poverty.

According to the SoDMA, the floods have displaced more than 600,000 people and affected more than two million people across the country.

The agency has appealed for more support from the international community to address the urgent needs of the flood victims.
