Two Al-Shabaab fighters surrender in Galgadud region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|GALGADUD: Two Al-Shabaab fighters who security officials were behind major attacks in Galgadud region have surrendered to Gorgor unit of the Somali National Army.

According to military sources, Hussein Maalin aka Dhagey surrendered in Eldhere district in Galgadud region. He is thought to have led several Al-Shabaab attacks in Galgadud region. He joined Al-Shabaab in Jalalaqsi district of Hiiraan region.

The second fighter identified as Alas Ibrahim Ahmed battle is said to have joined the group in Eldheere district. Security forces paraded the two in public before they were taken away.

Sources said the two will be flown to Mogadishu.
