U.S.-Backed Airstrike Targets Al-Shabaab Militants in Hirshabelle

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: The Somali National Army (SNA), in collaboration with the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), carried out a joint airstrike on Tuesday targeting Al-Shabaab militants in Hirshabelle State.

According to officials, the airstrike was launched in response to a failed Al-Shabaab attack on Alkowsar town in the Middle Shabelle region. The precision strike aimed at eliminating key militant operatives and disrupting their operations.

Somali national forces have begun assessing the impact of the operation, including enemy casualties, and will provide further updates as more details emerge.

The Federal Government of Somalia, working closely with international partners like U.S. AFRICOM, reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating extremist threats and ensuring lasting security for the Somali people and the global community.
