U.S. strike kills nine Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia-AFRICOM

Nine Al-Shabaab militants were killed in a US airstrike in southwestern Somalia Friday adding to more than 50 the number of Al-Shabaab militants felled by the drone strikes in less than a month.

U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) said Saturday in a statement it neutralized nine militants in Lebede located in South West state Friday.

“We currently assess this airstrike killed nine (9) militants with no civilians involved,” AFRICOM said.

The strike happened barely three days after a similar one killed three militants in Quy Cad near Debatscile, Somalia on November 27, 2018.
