UAE Red Crescent delivers relief supplies to cyclone victims in Somaliland
The United Arab Emirates Red Crescent today delivered medical and food supplies to floods affected people in Somaliland regions as relief efforts continue to reach thousands affected.
The supplies delivered in two helicopters were distributed to various localities affected by the floods. Vice President Abdirahman Saylihi who earlier visited various areas hit by the heavy rains said many people were facing difficulties as some areas were surrounded by water.
“I took a helicopter from Djibouti and visited localities affected. Many people have been displaced and others have died,” the VP said. “Some areas have been marooned by water and they need urgent help.”
Some people especially the elderly were airlifted to safety.
Somaliland government said Monday 25 people had died and 27 others were still missing in the wake of the cyclone which hit the region last Friday.
