UGANDAN PRESIDENT ARRIVES IN ADDIS ABABA

Storyline:World

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni arrived in Addis Ababa on Friday for a three-day official visit to Ethiopia.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and senior officials welcomed Museveni upon his arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport.

The Ugandan President is expected to hold talks with his Ethiopian counterpart Mulatu Teshome, Premier Desalegn and senior officials on ways of bolstering bilateral cooperation between Uganda and Ethiopia. The talks are also expected to dwell on regional peace.

Both Ethiopia and Uganda have contributed troops to an African peacekeeping mission in war-torn Somalia, which has remained in the grip of violence since 1991.

In 2011, the two countries signed a regional security operations deal that provides for both states to take common position on regional security affairs.

The agreement was also meant to allow for free movements of people between the two countries.
