Voter Registration Kicks Off in Masagawaay, Mudug Region
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MUDUG: Voter registration has officially kicked off in Masagawaay town in Galcad district of Mudug region, with residents turning out in large numbers to enroll ahead of Somalia’s planned one-person, one-vote elections.
The National Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission launched the voter registration exercise as part of broader efforts to advance a democratic electoral system in the country.
The launch event was officiated by the Galcad District Commissioner, Osman Arif, alongside local officials from Masagawaay. The leaders also registered as voters, encouraging residents to actively participate in the electoral process.
Members of the local community from various backgrounds have been flocking to registration centers, expressing enthusiasm and readiness to take part in direct elections under the one-person, one-vote model.
Authorities in Galcad district have urged the public to register in large numbers, emphasizing that active participation will allow citizens to directly choose their leaders and strengthen the country’s democratic governance system.
