Voting for Somaliland senators put off indefinitely

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The State Indirect Elections Team (SIET) for Somaliland has delayed indefinitely the election of members of the Somaliland Upper House which was slated to begin on the 28th and end on 30th of this month in Mogadishu.

In a statement released last night, the commission said, “We would like to inform all the candidates who have registered for the Upper House elections in Somaliland that there will be a delay in the speeches of the candidates tomorrow. We will report back in time”.

The Somaliland candidates were expected to deliver their speeches today (Monday 27) and elections were to begin as from tomorrow.

No reason for the delay so far has been given by the elections team.
