Alhusunna militants clash with federal forces in Mataban

Ahlu Sunah militants clashed with national army forces in Mataban district Saturday in a checkpoint as the group attempted to bar the forces accompanying interior minister Abdi Sabriye.

According to sources in the town, Alhusuna troops manning a checkpoint into the town denied entry the minister and the SNA forces leading to clashes.

Tension remains between the federal forces and Alhusunna following a collapse of a truce which would have seen the militias integrated into the national army.
