Warring Tribal Militias Swap Hostages
According to elders who were mediating the warring clan militias in Baladweyn, Hiran said that they had successfully secured the release of hostages from both sides.
Elder Ahmed Abdulle Jimale told Goobjoog that the tribal militias agreed to swap hostages they captured in the days of the fighting between the two brotherly clans.
“We can comfortably tell the people of Hiran that the warring clans has stopped hostilities, we managed to move the militias apart, now we are on course to cement lasting peace between the two clans” said the elder.
Clan clashes has been recurrent in different parts of Hiran, but it was the first time a clan fighting has took place in Baladweyn, the main town of the region in the recent history.
The fighting has claimed the lives of at least 10 people and wounding 35 others, there were also unspecified number of hostages which elders now helped their release.
