GOOBJOOG NEWS|BELETWEYNE: SNA officials have confirmed that 11 Al-Shabaab militants were killed in Buq-Aqable town in the Hiiran region by Somali special forces (Danab Commnandos).
The elite forces also burned down a vehicle that the militants were traveling in near the town of Buq-Aqable in the region of Hiran.
Recent operations by the Somali National Army with backup from local militias in the HirShabelle state region have led to the successful liberation of a number of towns and villages which had earlier been under the stranglehold of the Al-Qaeda affiliated group.
The offensive operations have received praise from several quarters, including from the Somali president. A statement by the Africa Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has praised the SNA in equal measure, saying that Somalia is now ready to take over the reins of security given the right conditions.
“The ongoing military operations are proof that, given the right conditions, the Somali National Army (SNA) is capable of leading successful anti-terror operations and can take over the security responsibility of their country.”
