13 injured as gunfire persists, possible hostage situation at Hotel Sahafi
A hostage crisis situation is fast developing at Hotel Sahafi after the first explosion hit the hotel in the central business district of Mogadishu.
Source have told Goobjoog News that armed gunmen have taken over the city hotel.
Goobjoog News has also learnt a photojournalist with Reuters has been injured in the second explosion after a booby trap car exploded near the hotel more than an hour after the first explosion.
At least 13 people have been wounded as confirmed by Gooobjoog News at the city’s Medina Hospital.
There are no confirmed casualties yet but reports indicate militants have taken over the hotel and security teams have sealed off the scene as gunfire exchange persists.
Al-Shabaab earlier claimed responsibility of the attack noting that its fighters had taken over the hotel.
Hotel Sahafi is popular with local politicians and international agencies staff.
