14 killed after university bus crashes in Kenya

GOOBJOOG NEWS | NAIROBI: 14 people including students and teachers have perished after a university bus crashed in Naivasha, 92.7 Kilometers North-West of Nairobi, Kenya.

The accident occurred after a 50-seater bus belonging to Pwani University collided with a 14-seater minibus along the Nakuru-Naivasha highway in Kenya Thursday afternoon.

The bus, according to area police boss Tom Odera had 30 passengers on board and was headed for a sports event in Eldoret town, in Western Kenya.

Mr. Odera added that the accident is believed to have been caused by brake failure.

“Survivors of the crash have been rushed to Naivasha hospital, with some in critical condition, and the death toll could rise,” he said.

Road accidents are common in the East-African country often caused by poor roads, reckless driving, and unroadworthy vehicles.
