GOOBJOOG NEWS|BAKOOL: Authorities in Somalia’s Bakool region and Hudur district have issued an unexpected statement rejecting the leadership of the current South West State president, describing his administration as illegitimate.
In a strongly worded declaration, regional and district officials said they had taken a clear position on the ongoing political situation in South West State, announcing that they would instead work directly with the Federal Government of Somalia until a legitimate and representative administration is established.
The officials also expressed full support for the country’s constitution recently signed by the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, noting that they stand behind efforts aimed at strengthening statehood and completing the country’s legal framework.
The move is seen as a significant political setback for the South West State leadership based in Baidoa. Analysts warn that the decision could further deepen political divisions within the region, where tensions between federal and regional authorities have been escalating.
