Af-urur base in Puntland State comes under Al-Shabaab attack

GOOBJOOG NEWS/GAROWE: Al-Shabaab fighters have this morning attacked a Puntland military base in Af-urur village, about 70 km west of Bosaso town.

The militants have reportedly overrun the base and seized weapons, ammunition and military vehicles belonging to Puntland security forces. 

According to witnesses, sporadic gunfire could still be heard this morning near Af-urur village.

Al-Shabaab militants have attacked the Af-urur camp multiple times, with the worst attack happening in June 2017, where the fighters briefly took control of the area and killed dozens of soldiers.
