Airstrikes Target Several Al-Shabaab Bases in Southern Somalia

GOOBJOOG NEWS | SOUTHERN SOMALIA: Somali National Armybacked by its international allies have targeted several Al-Shabaab bases along the border between Lower Shabelle and Middle Jubba regions in southern Somalia.

Military sources indicates that warplanes conducted heavy bombings, striking at least six militant bases in the area resulting in massive casualties to the militants including high-ranking members.

The sources further indicated that the attacks resulted in substantial destruction of the militants’ infrastructure, severely hampering their operational capabilities in the region.

The military action comes after weeks of intensified operations against Al-Shabaab in southern and central Somalia. Somali and local forces, supported by airstrikes from Somali partners, have been working closely on the operations.
