Al-Shabaab dealt major blow as more than 30 killed in Hiran region

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: A statement by the Ministry of Information has said that the Somali National Army forces dealt a major blow to the terrorist group Al-Shabaab after they killed 35 members of the group.

A special operation carried out at the dead of the night on Friday in Aboorey, which is about 25 km east of Buulo-burde district in the Hiran region, also led to the driving out of all members of the group from the area.

According to the statement by the Somali government, before the army’s invasion of the area, Aboorey was once an Al-Shabaab-controlled area, where members of the terrorist group used to oppress and kill civilians.

The statement added that five government soldiers were injured in the fighting.

The government thanked the Somali people for their assistance in defeating the terrorist group, and called on members of the group to surrender in order to save their lives before being smoked out by security forces..
