Al-Shabab Launches Attacks on IJA Military Base

Fighting erupted between forces loyal to Interim Jubba Administration and Al-Shabab fighters on the outskirt of Kismayo, the capital administrative of IJA.

Reports indicate that the fighters attacked at military base lies north of Kismayo.

IJA military officers said that they foiled the attack which Al-Shbabab wanted launch on their military.

On the other hand, Al-Shabab fighters claimed that they killed several soldiers and retrieved number of rifles though Goobjoog has no confirmation the group’s claim.

On 26th this month, Al-Shabab killed the first battalion commander of Jubbaland army, Mursal Gedi after the group tergated his car with an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) on his way to the frontline in Bullo-Gaduud area where the army is engaging gun battle with Al-Shabab fighters.

The commandant was one the active commanders leading Anti-Al-Shabab campaign as interim Jubba Administration is in preparation to carry out offensive to clear out the group from the areas under Jubbaland Administration.
