Armed Men Attack Home Of Galmudug Minister

At least one person died and two others sustained injuries after Suspected Ahlu-Sunna fighters attacked the residence of Galmudug Minister for Commerce and industry, Abdikadir Abdullahi Warsame on Tuesday.

Confusion and fear reined in Abudwaq town, after automatic weapons fire and several explosions sent residents scurrying for the shelter of their homes.

Sources say the target of the morning attack by unidentified members was the residence of Mr Abdikadir and they added the action appeared aimed at derailing the peace agreement signed by Both Ahlu-Sunna and Galmudug State.

Locals told the media the raid on the house of the minister led to a fierce gun battle that lasted for hours. The bodyguards of the minister however managed to repulse the attackers.

The Minister was unharmed but one was killed in the brawl, a resident living near the residential house of the minister said.
