AU mission probes civilian death, injuries in grisly accident

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Africa Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) said on Tuesday that it has launched investigations into incident where its convoy rammed into the minibus along the Mogadishu – Afgoye road.

On Sunday evening, an AMISOM convoy travelling along the Mogadishu – Afgoye road was involved in a road accident with a civilian vehicle, a minibus which was headed to the Somali capital from Afgoye district.

The AU mission later confirmed that its convoy was involved in a road accident with a civilian vehicle along the Mogadishu-Afgoye road and pledged to provide details of the incident later.

“AMISOM will carry out thorough investigations with the relevant federal government of Somalia agencies and will make available more information in the course of the enquiry,” said said AU.

The Mission said they are meeting with the Somali Police, the local administration and elders over the incident.

The fatal incident took place at Alamada area, just outside Mogadishu.
