GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU:  The Office of the Auditor General has called for stronger oversight and streamlined procedures in the management of government contracts, as part of efforts to reinforce accountability across public institutions.

Speaking during a multi-agency meeting in Mogadishu, officials from the auditor general’s office stressed the need to simplify documentation processes related to the registration, execution and monitoring of contracts involving federal entities.

The meeting, which brought together representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the National Identification Agency and the Finance Ministry’s revenue directorate, focused on improving coordination and standardising procedures across institutions.

The Office of the Auditor General said clearer systems and better inter-agency cooperation are essential to ensuring contracts are implemented in line with government laws and regulations, while safeguarding national interests.

It added that strengthening oversight mechanisms and improving administrative efficiency would play a key role in promoting transparency, enhancing public trust and supporting broader governance reforms in Somalia.
