Mudug commissioner dispels reports of fighting in Amara
A district commissioner in Mudug region has dispelled reports of a clash between Somali forces and Al-Shabaab in the Amara locality contrary to earlier reports
Yusuf Salad Mohamed told Goobjoog News there was not fighting or troops movement in Amara safe for a group which passed the area two days ago. Sources told Goobjoog News early Wednesday Al-Shabaab had clashed with Somali forces but the commissioner has so far indicated the reports were false.
“There is no violence or fighting Amara. There was only a group which passed by the place some two days ago and we heard they engaged in battle far away from here,” said Mohamed.
The administrator said Amara is neither in the control of Al-Shabaab nor government forces. “The area is controlled by locals who have agreed on some form of administration,” added Mohamed.
