Burundi’s foreign minister arrives in Mogadishu

GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: Burundi’s foreign affairs minister Albert Shingiro arrived in Mogadishu Sunday for a two day’s vist.

The Burundian minister was received by his Somali counterpart Abshir Muse at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu.

The minister’s delegation, which includes Presidential advisor on military affairs General Silas Ntigurirwa,  is expected to meet the President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

Burunding contributes both troops and police to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). Burundi army serves in sector three which covers Bay and Bakool regions in addition to Sector 1 in the Lower Shabelle region where they served alongside Ugandan forces.

Burundi was the second country to deploy forces in Somalia in December 2007 after Uganda.
