Cabinet Approves New Director General of Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Agency
GOOBJOOG NEWS|MOGADISHU: The Council of Ministers of the Federal Government of Somalia has approved, by majority vote, the appointment of a new Director General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, naming Mr. Hussein Qaasim Yusuf (Iidow) to the post.
Iidow replaces Mustafe Dhuxulow, who previously held the position and had been a member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia prior to his appointment. The newly appointed Director General is also currently a Member of the House of the People.
Both officials share a similar background, having transitioned from the Federal Parliament into the leadership of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency.
The Council of Ministers stated that the appointment is part of broader efforts to strengthen key government institutions, particularly those responsible for delivering essential public services such as immigration and citizenship.
The new Director General is expected to improve the efficiency of the agency’s operations and enhance the quality of services provided to Somali citizens as well as foreign nationals entering the country.
