GOOBJOOG NEWS|BOSASO: Two Puntland Security Forces (PSF) soldiers were killed in a clash with state police in Bosaso on Friday, sources in the coastal city have said.

It is unclear why the two factions differed but reports indicate that fighting erupted after police from Bosaso who had gone near the PSF camp clashed with the PSF soldiers, resulting in a fierce shoot-out. Two other soldiers and civilians were injured.

The Puntland administration has not yet issued a statement on the matter, but investigations are said to be underway. PSF, which was formerly supported by the US has had several run-ins with the Puntland administration. A week-long fight between PSF and Puntland military in Bosaso last year resulted in several deaths.

The clash was a result of leadership wrangles at PSF following the sacking of the unit’s head Mohamud Diano who was later reinstated in a deal brokered by clan elders.
