Counter-Terrorism Operations Take Centerstage as SNA Chief Meets US Military Officials

GOOBJOOG NEWS | MOGADISHU: Somali and US military officials met in Mogadishu Monday to discuss counter-terrorism operations and further strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

The meeting led by Somali National Armed Forces chief Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuyidin focused on ongoing military operations against terrorist groups across the country.

Officials from both sides emphasized the importance of joint efforts in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the region.

The US officials reaffirmed their country’s commitment to support Somalia in its ongoing offensive against the Al-Shabaab, underscoring the strong partnership between the two nations in addressing security challenges and promoting stability in the nation.  

Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhuyidin, expressed gratitude for the US’s unwavering support and highlighted the significant progress made in the ongoing military operations. He emphasized the determination of the Somali Army to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace and stability in the country.

The discussions also touched upon the need for continued coordination and intelligence sharing to effectively target and neutralize terrorist elements. Both sides acknowledged the importance of sustained efforts and collaboration in the fight against extremism and terrorism.
