Deadly car accident kills three along Burao-Berbera Highway

GOOBJOOG NEWS/HARGEISA: A tragic road accident has left three people dead and several others injured in a car accident along the Burao-Berbera Highway in Togdheer region of Somaliland.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle carrying passengers overturned near Qoyte area, causing deaths and injuries. 

Confirming the deaths and injuries, the director of Burao City Hospital, Dr. Mohamed Farah Abdi, said the dead included two women and a boy, while five others were being treated in the facility for different degrees of injuries. 

The director decried the rise in road accidents between Burao and Berbera due to reckless driving by underage drivers, calling on relevant authorities to curb the vice before many more precious lives are lost.

By the time of going to press, the regional traffic Police Commandant had not yet spoken on the cause of the accident. 

Similar incidents have been on the rise in Somaliland in recent times, with the Burao-Berbera Highway claiming the lives of many people killed and injuring several others.
