Demonstrations underway in Garbaharey over Kenya’s alleged interference in elections

GOOBJOOG NEWS/KISMAYO: Demonstrations are currently underway in Beledhawo town in Gedo region over complaints that the Kenyan government was interfering with elections.

Angry demonstrators, many carrying placards and chanting slogans, said they were agitating against interference from the Kenya government over the Gabarharey elections that have failed to take off due to what Garbaharey authorities said was insecurity.

The demonstrators, who lit fired in the middle of the town, called on the Federal Government of Somalia to intervene in the matter and ensure that elections are carried out as planned in Garbaharey, noting that Gabarharey residents were being denied their democratic right due to flimsy reasons.
